ARTIST TALK 3 - Künstlerische Positionen im Dialog
Gastkünstler*innen: Sabine Linse und Ramin Parvin

Am 23./24. März findet der drtitte Künstler*innenaustausch vom Zyklus ARTIST TALK - Künstlerische Positionen im Dialog statt. An jedem vierten Wochenende des Monats treffen sich im internationalen Kulturzentrum Ulme35 Künstler*innen bzw. Künstlerkollektive aus Deutschland mit Künstlerkolleg*innen, die kürzlich nach Berlin gekommen sind. In einer lockeren Gesprächsrunde am Freitagabend im Salon der Ulme35 erzählen sie über ihre künstlerische Tätigkeit, ihrer Herkunft, ihr Arbeitsumfeld. Am Samstag Nachmittag findet ein gemeinsamer partizipativer Workshop statt, in dem die Gastkünstler*innen und interessierte Teilnehmer*innen sich in einem neuen experimentellen Dialogfeld begegnen: sie erarbeiten gemeinsam ein künstlerisches Format - ein kollektives Bild, eine performative Darstellung, ein Manifest, einen Film... Die Formate sind nicht vorgegeben, jedes mal lassen wir uns von den Künstler*innen überraschen.

Zum dritten ARTIST TALK sind die in Berlin lebende Künstlerin Sabine Linse und der junge iranische Künstler Ramin Parvin eingeladen. Beide Künstler*innen verbindet in erster Linie die sehr persönliche, interpretative und interdiziplinäre Heran- gehensweise: z.B. mittels der Fotografie, wie auch in Videoarbeiten, oder in analogen Bilderserien bis hin zu performativen Aktionen und Raumarbeiten. Je nach Intention erforschen die beiden Künstler*innen experimentell verschiedene Kanäle, um eine direkte und emotionale Einbindung der Beobachter*innen zu erzeugen.

Dabei geht es Ramin Parvin um die Intimität und den Schmerz im rituellen Leben und den dazugehörigen Objekten.

 
 
 
 

Sabine Linses Inszenierungen spielen mit der Verquickung von Wahrnehmung, Erwartung und Vorstellung - in vielen ihrer Arbeiten entsteht so etwas Unvertrautes, eine rätselhaft - absurde Allianz des Komischen mit dem Unheimlichen.

Originally we announced one of his films - instead the famous actor and director Nawar Bubul is coming himself to Ulme 35!
He will be performing a fascinating monodrama "Mawlana", written by Fares al Zahaby (arab. with engl. subtitles).
He became widely known for his acting work in Bab Al-Hara, one of the most popular television series in the Arab world. He works with other refugees in theatrical productions which have received international acclaim. Last Year we showed his film film "Shakespeare in Zataari" about a Shakespeare production in the world largest refugee camp. Nawar's work in Zaatari has been profiled in the New York Times, and the Guardian.

"Mord am Meer" (Murder by the Sea) -- German without subtitles
Directed by Matti Geschonnek based on the novel «Die letzte Vorstellung» by Ulrich Woelk.
Ein deutscher Thriller,  geschrieben von einem Berliner Autor und verfilmt von einem Berliner Regisseur: In einem einsamen Haus an der Nordsee wird ein Mann auf rätselhafte Weise ermordet. Kommissar Anton Glauberg soll den Fall gemeinsam mit einer aus der ehemaligen DDR stammenden Kollegin Paula Reinhardt aufklären. Die Suche nach dem Mörder führt die beiden bis nach Berlin – und tief in ihre eigenen Familiengeschichten und in die Geschichte der beiden deutschen Staaten. Was verbindet die beiden Kommissare und welche Rolle spielen der Terrorismus der RAF und die Geheimdienste?
"Mord am Meer" is a German thriller through and through. Both the author and the director come from Berlin.
A mysterious murder takes place in a lonely house on the shores of the Baltic Sea. Inspector Anton Gauberg and his GDR-born colleague Paula Reinhardt are comissioned to solve the crime. The search for the killer leads them to Berlin -- and into the depths of their own family histories and the history of the two German states. What is the link between the two inspectors? And how do the terrorism of the RAF and the legendary east German secret services come into play?
Author Ulrich Woelk will be visiting the Ulme35 for the film. Following the screening, we will have the opportunity to discuss the film with him.

Bakr Khleifi’s goal is to show the Oud as a solo instrument, and to take a journey travelling classical Maqamic pieces from different parts of the so-called Middle-East, so as to explore how Maqamic music behaved in the 20th century.
Aditionally, Bakr will play his own compositions, reflecting his personal journey as a musician of both Maqamic music and Western-Classical music. “I have always thought of how these two different genres connect on a historic and musical level, and how they could help each other bring the next step forward that both of these genres need,” he contemplates.
Accompanying the Oud is the Persian Tombak, a percussion instrument. Tombak adds a dynamic character to the tunes and thus is more than an accompaniment – it truly becomes a part of the music.
Bakr Khleifi

Born in 1991, Bakr started his music education at the age of 4. When he was 6 years old, he started learning the Oud with renowned Oud player Ahmad al-Khatib. Throughout the years, he learned with several Oud teachers, including Samir Jubran of the Trio Jubran and Simon Shaheen.
Bakr is also a Double Bass player and has played with Daniel Barenboim’s and Edward Said’s Orchestra, the West-Eastern Divan. His study of both Maqamic music and Western Classical music has shifted him towards composing music that is influenced by both these musical disciplines.
Roshanak Rafani

Roshanak Rafani was born in Tehran in 1994 and has been ‏studying Classical Percussion with Dominic Ölze at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin since 2018.
She also holds a B.A. in Social Sciences.
Rashanak is a performer of the Iranian Percussion Daf, Dayere, and Tombak, as well as European percussions. Since 2014, she has been teaching Daf and Tombak in Iran and Germany.
In 2016, Rashanak founded the Tehran Percussion Ensemble with some colleagues. She has given concerts in Armenia, Kuwait, Spain, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Germany with various groups.
