Get together and exchange from 6 pm
Concert at 7 pm.
We are very happy to have Omar Znkawan, Artist in Residence in the „WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN“, with his band as guest in the Ulme35. Songs by one of the most famous musicians of the Arabian scene (Fairouz) are played in new jazz arrangements. His Berlin project reflects a new vision of Arabic music. He plays standards of jazz and Arabic music, mixing harmonies with improvisations.
We use this occasion for a meeting with artists from all over Berlin, who are supported in the program „Weltoffenes Berlin“, among them Abdul Razzak Shaballout, who is Artist in Residence at the Ulme35 this year and who combines Calligraphy and hyperrealist painting. He will show some of his works that were created this year.
We cordially invite you to this salon evening with music and art.
Opportunity to get together and exchange from 6 pm, concert at 7 pm.

Omar Znkawan is a Syrian saxophonist, clarinetist and composer who has lived in Berlin since 2018 and works on his project „Arabic Jazz Music“. At the moment Omar is Fellow of the program „Weltoffenes Berlin 2019“ of the Berlin Senate for Culture and Europe and cooperates with the „WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN“.
He is working to renew Arabic music by adding new rhythms and harmonies to the musical forms in order to spread the oriental atmosphere in Western styles. On the saxophone in particular, his aim is to introduce it into a new image with Arabic instruments by playing the quarter-tone in Arabic melodies and improvising in the Arab-Jazz-Style.
